RENDER
Rendering, when applied to the construction or renovation of buildings, refers to the application of cement to external and/or internal brick or concrete walls in order to achieve a smooth or deliberately textured surface. Once rendered, further finishes can be applied for extra protection and style such as internal set, external sand-finish or acrylic render (texture)
TEXTURE
Acratex Acrylic Texture Coat is a very popular finish. It is a colour-in trowelled on product and has thousands of colours, that you can choose from. Dulux Texture Coat is a superior finish which is less prone to cracking, discolouration and can be applied to many surfaces such as exposed face brick, cement fibre boards, blueboard, Bondor, Polystyrene CFC Panels and including brick walls that are painted. Texture coat is not limited to only external walls, it can also be used for internal walls.
SET
Setting is the term used in the industry to apply a lime or gypsum based top coat over internal rendered walls. Setting is a process that covers the surface by creating a finish to make it paint-ready. It is applied to internal walls and provides a smooth mirror like finish.
VENETIAN
Venetian plaster is a wall and ceiling finish consisting of plaster mixed with marble dust, applied with a spatula or trowel in thin, multiple layers, which are then burnished to create a smooth surface with the illusion of depth and texture. Venetian plaster techniques include marmorino, scagliola, and sgraffito.[4] When left un-burnished, Venetian plaster has a matte finish that is rough and stone-like to the touch. Un-burnished Venetian plaster is also very brittle and damages rather easily.
When applied correctly, Venetian plaster can be used to create a highly polished, rock-hard, marble-like finish.
GYPROCK
Gyprock is the most widely used interior wall material in most Australian residential properties due to its cheap cost, quick installation and flawlessly flat surface. Installing it is an effective and relatively simple procedure providing the wooden frame work has been installed properly.
